Born and raised in Rome, Anna Paola Franchesci began her artistic journey studying Art History at La Sapienza University while simultaneously attending a sculpture course. It was during this time that she discovered mosaic craftsmanship, which quickly became her true vocation. After four years of apprenticeship, she opened her own atelier in 1997 and has since dedicated over 30 years to creating mosaics for interior and exterior design, collaborating with architects and designers, as well as working on the restoration of ancient mosaics with the Archaeological Superintendency (the Italian public authority responsible for the protection and conservation of cultural heritage).
Her practice bridges craftsmanship and creativity, tradition and innovation. She translates artists’ works into mosaic and continuously searches for a personal visual language. Throughout her career, she has participated in numerous international exhibitions, symposiums, and large-scale public art projects across Chile, Russia, Palestine, India, and Italy.
She is the lead mosaicist overseeing the realization of the “Albania is Biodiversity” mosaic.
