Heinrich Böll Foundation, Tirana office will host its first Summer School, "Exploring the Small States of the Western Balkans: the Path to EU" between 10 – 15 July 2023, in Tirana.
This intensive one-week course, through a combination of interactive lectures, exercises, field visits, and discussions, will provide a comprehensive understanding of the complex dynamics and political landscape of the small states of the Western Balkans and explore their journey towards the EU. Distinguished local and international academics and eminent policy specialists will be present at the summer school and deliver lectures on selected topics.
In addition to the academic content, participants will have the opportunity to visit governmental and European institutions and network with local and European policymakers.
The summer school is open to graduate students, researchers, and junior professionals with a keen interest on Western Balkan politics. Participants are expected to have enthusiasm to learn, an open mind, and an appreciation for cross-cultural exchange. The summer school will host both foreign and Albanian participants.
The selected applicants will be offered different accommodation options for their stay. Breakfast and lunch during the summer school will be provided and a small reimbursement for travel expenses will be available.
