Green Culture Van
The Green Culture Van is a mobile cultural center designed to bring artistic, social, and educational opportunities to undeserved communities outside the capital. Fully equipped with a cinema, exhibition materials, audio and video recording tools, bird monitoring facilities, and reading spaces, it serves as a dynamic hub for culture and learning. This shared resource supports organizations, activists, and artists who want to host events but lack the necessary infrastructure, providing them with a venue for exhibitions, discussions, and educational programs.
Mobile Culture
In Albania as in many parts of the world, culture, education, and artistic expression remain concentrated in urban centers, leaving rural and underserved communities with limited access. Mobile culture offers an alternative—one that is dynamic, inclusive, and community-driven. Mobility in this sense goes beyond digital and physical connectivity and becomes instead a social tool to bridge this gap. Initiatives like the Green Culture Van help to bring art, knowledge, and dialogue directly to people, transforming cultural and educational spaces from fixed locations into adaptable, mobile hubs that meet communities where they are.
What can you do with Green Culture Van?
Anything, just put a name on it!
The Green Culture Van has hosted a wide range of activities, including film screenings, exhibitions, readings, fairs, and community events. Over the past three years, hbs Tirana and its partners have traveled across Albania, bringing cultural and educational initiatives to diverse locations—from the student hubs of Tirana to the villages of Tropoja, the coastal town of Lukova, and protected areas like Narta. We’ve reached major urban centers outside the capital, such as Durrës, Berat, and Shkodër, as well as nature festivals in the mountains of Librazhd and along the beaches of Borsh. Through these journeys, we’ve engaged communities in social activities, screened films on environmental, political, and social issues, and organized exhibitions to raise awareness about plastic pollution and its impact. But rather than just describing these experiences, we invite you to hear directly from those who have been part of them.
Testimonial from organizers of "N'Fshat" initiative
With the mobile cinema of the Green Culture Van, we brought a special experience to the remote village of Lekbibaj. We screened "Kur hapen dyert e jetës", a film that reflects rural life, making the event even more meaningful for everyone involved.Gent Fetahaj, GIZ Albania
